What’s Inside Your Kit

Inside your kit, you will find a set of written instructions that will guide you through the process step by step. We have also included all the necessary materials for creating your trays. Let’s take a look at what’s included:

  1. Clear Forming Tray: This hard plastic tray is similar to the ones we use in our dental office for taking impressions.

  2. Blue Forming Putty: This putty is easier to work with when you pre-warm it with your hands. It will make it softer and easier to take your impression.

  3. Clear Tray Material: This flexible material is what your actual tray will be made out of in the end. We provide six different pieces of material, just in case you need a little extra.

  4. Tray Case: Once you’ve made your trays, this case will provide a safe spot for you to store them.

  5. Whitening Gel: Our whitening gel is made exclusively for Light Dental Studios. Inside the kit, you’ll find smaller packets of the gel.

How to Make Your Trays

Now that you have all the materials, let’s get started on making your trays. Follow these simple steps:

  1. Press the blue forming putty evenly into the clear forming tray. Thumb it in to create a trough and practice biting into the putty to get used to the process.

  2. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Take one piece of the clear tray material and dip it into the hot water, submerging the lower portion for five seconds. This will soften the material.

  3. Remove the material from the water and place it over your tray. Make sure it is even and in line. Bite firmly into the tray to create an impression of your teeth.

  4. Cool the tray by placing it in cold water. This will help it retain its shape and separate it from the putty.

  5. Trim the tray using scissors, removing any excess plastic to ensure comfort.

  6. Try on the trimmed tray to ensure it fits comfortably. If necessary, trim a little more until it feels just right.

Additional Options

If you prefer a higher quality tray, Light Dental Studios also offers custom-made trays at our office. These trays are made with superior materials and cost $40 per arch. If you’re interested, simply let us know!

The Whitening Solution

Once your tray is perfectly trimmed and comfortable, it’s time to use the whitening solution. Each pack of whitening gel is good for both your top and bottom arches. Follow the instructions included in your kit to apply the gel to your trays.

How can I get the kit and how much does it cost?

For our patients here at Light Dental Studios, this kit is actually a gift from us. The value of the kit is $145, and it includes a prescription-strength whitening solution that you cannot find in stores. However, to ensure your safety, we recommend that you have a dental exam and approval from your dentist before using the kit.

Can I get a free refill kit with my 6-month checkup and cleaning?

Certainly! If you come in for your six-month cleaning and have no cavities, we will provide you with a refill of the whitening solution. This refill is separate from the initial kit you received.
