  3. Sorting and storing sterilized instruments and equipment: After sterilization, you’ll organize and store instruments and equipment in their designated areas, ensuring they are easily accessible when needed.

  4. Preparing and packaging cassettes: You’ll pre-package cassettes, wrap them in sterile paper, and attach identification labels, making sure everything is in order for future use.

  5. Loading instrument carts: In accordance with patient care requirements, you’ll load instrument carts with cassettes, supplies, and equipment. These carts will then be transported to the appropriate clinic or service area.

  6. Receiving and inspecting contaminated instruments: You’ll receive and inspect all contaminated instruments returned by students and faculty members. Any missing or damaged instruments will be promptly addressed, initiating necessary procedures.

  7. Maintaining records and handling data: You’ll be responsible for logging instruments in and out using a manual or barcode system. Additionally, you’ll enter and retrieve data from a computerized database.

  8. Ordering and managing supplies: You’ll complete requisitions to order supplies, receive and unpack deliveries, label items, and ensure they are stored appropriately. You’ll also maintain accurate records of supply transactions and file relevant documents.

  9. Following safety procedures: Adhering to universal precautions, you’ll handle infectious waste with care and follow sterilization and decontamination protocols meticulously.

  10. Assisting with clerical duties: Alongside your technical responsibilities, you’ll perform various routine clerical duties, such as answering calls, relaying information, and organizing files.

Basic mathematical skills, the ability to follow instructions (both verbal and written), effective communication skills, and proficiency in operating equipment such as sonic washers, sterilizers, autoclaves, heat sealers, and sharpening wheels are also essential. In addition, you should be comfortable using computers and other standard office equipment, maintaining accurate records, wearing personal protective equipment, and performing physically demanding tasks like extensive standing, walking, and lifting.
